As of 3/4/2013, Philadelphia is at 33 and Baltimore is at 35. It's great how far Philly's numbers have gone down, but at the same time it's sad that one city (Baltimore) that has 40% of the population of another city (Philly) can have more murders.

Anyone surprised that Indianapolis is at 27 as of 3/7/13? That's shockingly high and roughly double Chicago's per capita rate.

Chicago has slowed down quite a bit. There were 43 murders in the first 31 days of the year, and have only been 17 murders in the 36 days since. Hopefully it continues.

So far the rate is down 24% from last year at this time.

New Orleans is at 22 as of today. I don't think anyone has posted our numbers yet. We really need help down here. Well, they do, because I don't live there anymore but I have a host of family that still does.

The February number was the best February numbers in Chicago since 1957.

Its nice to see, but once it's summer, things will come back up somewhat most likely (hopefully though a decrease from the years past). There's 2 homicides for March so far, so at that rate, there will be around 8-10 for the month. As we know though, these things come in waves. That type of number (hopefully less) would be nice to see..wish it was 0 but that's pretty much impossible in any large city these days.

I thought February was a fluke with just 14 compared to 29 last year, but now March is standing at 6 through the 17th of the month compared to 25 last year. Last March ended with 52 murders.
