And yet those "Six MSAs", which all share the same media, commuters, and sports teams (note how the San Francisco 49ers will be playing about 45 miles South in the far-off San Jose MSA in 2014) are (combined) nearly 3000 square miles smaller than the Metroplex and have far more continuous urban development than the Metroplex.
Sounds like your "MSAs" claim is more of a Census glitch than anything else and this is more than a fair comparison.
To be fair though, we need more of an apples to apples on this.
Yes, technically the DFW Metro area is 9,000 square miles. However, did you know that over 6 million of the 6.7 million residents reside in 3,500 sqaure miles? Most of what is the DFW metroplex is farm and ranch land.
Shopping - San Francisco
Crime - Push
Economy - DFW
Affordablitly of Housing - DFW
Local Cuisine - San Francisco
Traffic - San Francisco
Nightlife - San Francisco
Weather - San Francisco
The Bay area wins this fight for me. Better weather, more natural beauty, the ocean, a lot more to do outdoors, more unique and interesting city, among other tings. DFW would win on affordability as the Bay area is very expensive and I would give its economy a slight edge over San Francisco's.
I also made my assessment on the San Francisco Metro area, and not the entire Bay Area.
As a black man, DFW across the board. Funny how the Bay Area encompasses more and more of California according to its CSA, but in real life, no one knows what the *@@! a CSA is. I'm sure people in Fairfield and people in Morgan Hill have so much in common, commuting to San Francisco. Not to be extremely mean but it really shows how much of a complex an area really has when its residents universally consider their "area" a much larger area than what the government defines it to be.
There's really no point in asking whether people prefer anywhere in Cali w an area anywhere else in the country. I've noticed a lot of people on here hate on Cali, and will choose the other option before they even know what it is.
That wouldn't be the case if some Cali posters didn't hate on everywhere else.

44% of Americans, that is 136 million Americans, hate California and everything it stands for. Its posts like these that help stoke the flames of hate. Remember, 87% of Americans don't live there, and soon all 87% will unite against you if you get out of hand.

Yep and maybe there are some hills n mountains in the Bay Area
There's lots to like about the Metroplex, but I strongly prefer the bay area.
