C'mon BY, you know the history...HBCUs go back to the time only whites were accepted/welcomed at the major universities. They still appeal to those who appreciate the history of the university...same way the traditions of other schools appeal to students for other reasons (religion, arts, career field etc).
How? Because people wouldn't mind attending an HBCU? Why must Blacks be forced to do something they don't want to do? If they want to go to Howard over William and Mary, what's the problem?

A history of segregation? It is time to move beyond race, beyond Blackness, and become a citizen of humanity.

But isn't a problem that they want to self-segregate and go to a "Black" school? You don't see White people doing that. In fact, most White people celebrate diversity.
I guess like going to Wellesley, Bryn Mawr, and Mount Holyoke is reverse sexism?
But I must say, I find it entertaining when you slip into this mode LOL.
