^add in the fact that Manhattan gets 10 million international visitors annually, plus 50 million domestic visitors annually, it's pretty safe to assume that the population during the day is pretty huge.
Once again, every city gains population during day time work commute, Visitors & Tourist, Manhattan isn't big enough in land to house 4 million people .
Thought it's very dense, it doesn't have any more room to grow. I was watching an episode on National geographic where Chicago's growing population will live in an underground city due to it being no more room,That's crazy to even consider.
A new member to the 1,000,000 people city club. Austin continues to grow rapidly. Texas will have four cities with more than one million people by the next census at this rate and five before 2025. Tennessee will have a new largest city before the next census as well. Nashville trails Memphis by less than 13,000 now.
Population in America is getting bigger & bigger & bigger & California & Texas may have more population than what any census says due to the massive amount of uncounted illegal immigrants.

You are TOTALLY ENGIRELY WRONG. Even Downtown Chicago had land and Air rights over railroads to BUILD FROM SCRATCH Parts and NON-Residential areas that were old industrial abandoned.
This Downtown went from this to this.. This to This to the North
Parts of the Southside CLEARED OF GHETTO AND ABANDOMENT. ARE RETURNED TO PRAIRIE. AWATING THE NEW.

Chicago is still about 900,000 away from being at it's 1950 population of 3,620,962. It has a lot of room for growth still.
Yep - mainly on the south and west sides where there's way more vacant lots than on the north side. Though there is definitely room for more on the north side. Unfortunately the trend since about 2006 or 2007-ish in Chicago in a few areas are teardowns. Continuing today, a family will often purchase a building (sometimes a home, sometimes a multi unit building), demolish it, and build a brand new house over it. In other areas, families are purchasing multi unit buildings and paying a few hundred thousand dollars on top of the purchase price to convert into a single family home.
Then there's other areas where depopulation happened a long time ago, like Bronzeville, Logan Square, and Bridgeport where in the last 3 or so years there's been a decent number of homes/multi unit buildings that have been built on land that's been vacant for 2+ decades.
