COL and just being in CA scares me off of San Diego, but I'll still choose it over Philly. Philadelphia is a cool city with lots of appeal, but ultimately the weather and proximity to Mexico wins out for SD.

Twentynine Palms! It's right by Joshua Tree Park and LA and SD.... Jacksonville, NC is full of rednecks and trailer homes... pass

Raleigh. Admittedly have only been to Sacramento, but I prefer the Southeast over the West. I have lived in Sacramento and it's underwhelming for a city of its size. Alexandria, despite its location just across the Potomac from Washington. Evanston is charming and urbane, but Alexandria has historic charm and an even more urban feel.
