555 California is a very chic building whose design exudes power and importance( even the color screams authority) and that makes sense because this trophiest of west coast trophy buildings was built to house the world headquarters of Bank of America-I worked at HQ until the merger.
It last sold for $1.03 billion in 2007 to Vornado/ Trump.
Lol it's so ugly. Come on. We know you can't ever admit defeat when it comes to anything related to SF, but we've all admitted there are other pretty buildings in SF. 555 California is NOT one of them.

Dont be absurd. 555 California is a posh building that is desirable and steeped in class.
Just to stress the point of how desirable 555 California is, the beautiful US Bank Tower in Los Angeles( currently the tallest building on the West Coast) sold in 2013 for $367 Million.
Here we go again. As if more expensive=better in every single situation. Ever. I'm so sick of that argument from every Bay Area homer. Just because something is more expensive doesn't mean it's better. Move on with that argument. Nobody cares about that argument anymore.

Inevitably someone from the Bay Area uses the fact that real estate is expensive there in every thread to "prove" that SF is better than anywhere else. This is not a thread about the most expensive high rises or real estate. The price that 555 California sold for is 100% irrelevant when it comes to determining which of these downtowns is better. It's just a way for SF homers to feel "special" and adds literally no value to most threads. For this thread, I don't care if the high rise I walk by every day sold for $1tril or $0.01. If the downtown around it sucks, the downtown sucks. The plaza at the base of 555 California detracts greatly from the surrounding density too. It's not something to be proud of when discussing which downtown is better.
