Yeah, I just gave you too much credit. You're probably one of the least intelligent people ever to come across this thread.

The 2008 estimate is 2.853 million. Honestly, what are you thinking when you search for information?

If this were 1915, I'd agree with you.

No, YOU are lying. PAGE 76! Argue with PACE bus system!

Why are you using articles that say the exact opposite of what you are trying to prove?

Based on the articles, I would say Chicago has no more than 2.55 million or so at this point.

Because it's not actually depopulating. The population is more or less stable now. The census actually recorded a 20K increase from '07 to '08.

Many reasons, but here are a few:

1. Chicago is the murder capital of the nation

2. Chicago is ranked the "most miserable" city in the nation

3. Chicago is ranked the most polluted city in the nation

4. Chicago has one of the highest jobless rates in the nation

5. Chicago has some of the worst ghettos in the nation, because no other city has suffered such flight.

Chicago's population peaked at 3.6 million at the end of World War II, and is now 2.7 million

Who we are by the Numbers
That's fascinating. Thanks for the link. I wonder where Pace gets its data from. When I looked at the US Census Breau website, it gives a 2006 estimate of population for Chicago as 2.83 million.

That's pretty remarkable growth. From 2.7 to 2.83 million in one year! If you extrapolate this growth rate to today (2009), that means there's about 3.1 million residents in Chicago. Now I know these rates can't be extrapolated infinitely into the future, so probably growth has slowed and there's only 3 million or so in Chicago in 2009. Of course, we'll have to wait till next year when the census does an actual enumeration to know for certain.

Why are you guys arguing with someone who obviously wants nothing more than to rile things up? He doesn't care if he's wrong, and no arguing is going to change his mind.

False. The Census does not record intercensal numbers.

They only make estimates based on American Community Survey sampling.

Only the decennial numbers are official Census numbers.
