What you believe is of little significance, especially when you think a city the size of DC can have a better nightlife than Chi which is many times the size of DC and dwarfs DC with regards to the number of and variety of nightlife options.

DC gets Love (a major HIV transfer point) and the local bammaz are full of themselves.

Chicago nightlife sucks compared to DC. DC especially for blacks is hands down in the top 3. Have you actually been to any of these cities that you "claim" to know so much about? Size of a city has nothing to do with regards to women, nightlife, etc.

City population is somewhat irrelevant here, especially since DC's boundaries are fixed (it IS a federal district after all) and the city cannot annex any adjacent territory. Chicago has 2.85M people in 234 square miles; DC has 600K in 68 square miles. I'm not arguing that DC would have just as many people as Chicago if the city covered more territory, but only that the city stats really don't amount to much in this particular case.

Definitely doesn't crush DC at all. Like others said, bars are definitely better due to it being a blue collar midwest town. I spent pretty much my whole life in the Milwaukee/Chicago area. Even Milwaukee is better with the bars in my opinion.

Like others have said, the clubs are definitely on par/better than Chicago. Even the smaller ones that look like they would be just a small bar get packed with people dancing. There are so many spots all over the city and the suburbs like Old Town and Alexandria to choose from which adds more variety and puts it even closer to Chicago. The live music is also great here.

In my opinion, the vibe in both cities are too different to compare. DC has more of a NYC or LA feel at the bars and clubs. I don't think it's anywhere near the level of a place like NYC, but it definitely has that type of vibe compared to Chicago.
