That's 110 of just crip neighborhoods, let alone all the bloods, surenos, XV3's and Asian gang territories. And that's only within city limits, not counting Compton, Inglewood, Athens, Carson, Gardena, Hawthorne, or anywhere else that makes the area deadly that immediately borders it.

Bad districts/larger neighborhoods would include South Central, Watts, Crenshaw, Baldwin Village, Pico-Union, Boyle Heights, East LA, Skid Row, parts of Hollywood, Van Nuys, etc. Overall IMO NYC is much safer, even though it has some really bad neighborhoods. LA's gang violence is pretty widespread and even though it calmed down a bit lately, its always a threat. The gang issue in LA makes it a much more dangerous place than NYC.

And look at both cities' crime stats side by side. (This is from 2006 since I haven't seen a more updated side-by-side comparison.)

Well last i heard, NYC was the safest major city in the US...

LA is gang infested more so than NYC.

BTW, Washington Heights, Corona, Coney Island, and Canarsie are not that serious when it comes to crime unless your are a wimp.

I would say NYC is safer than L.A. overall. Both have bad neighborhoods and great neighborhoods. Crime statistics show that. Los Angeles is still one of the safer big cities in our country though and should be proud of the improvements they are making in having a very low crime rate for being such a big city. The crime rate has fallen dramatically in both cities. NYC was at 516 murders for example in 2008 (a low rate of 6.2 per 100,000 people) . In 1990 the city had 2,262! Talk about a MAJOR improvement. Los Angeles had 381 homicides in 2008 (rate of 9.9 per 100,000). In 1992 the city hit its high point at 1,092 homicides! Again, a MAJOR improvement. Both cities should be proud of the advances they have made in turning many rough neighborhoods into better ones, but it also doesn't diminish the crime that still occurs in the bad neighborhoods that remain.

LMAO cardiac arrest followed by soiled pants. Though we all know he'd never have the balls to set foot anywhere near there in the first place lol.

The thing that people don't understand about the west coast gangs, is that gangs are not made up of young thugs. You have 30,40,50 year olds that base their lives on their gang. It's a totally different thing than the gangs in NY. In LA people drive through opposing neighborhoods looking for someone to shoot at. Not because of anything more than they live in that particular neighborhood.

Even if LA did have the same crime rate as New York City, New York City would still be safer because of the population size.
