I don't know how many high-end stores LA and Chicago suburbs have, but here on Long Island there are a lot of them; like Saks, Bloomingdales, etc.

By the way, I think Las Vegas is probably in the top 5 for best shopping. It isn't really concentrated on one street like it is in other cities though, so it's hard to notice. It's mostly in the hotels on the strip.

The people who do this illegal business are called hustlers.

There was a movie made about this. Check out this one scene of how slick they are--

Actually hun there are people who get barter deals from importers and manufacturers, especially in cities known for garment centers.

Where is the South Bronx do you work? My sister in law lives in Mott Haven. Her cousin trains guard dogs and sometimes he requests to be paid partly in goods if the client is in a business that interests him.

170 st/Walton ave. Mott Haven is starting to gentrify, and has been rebuilding for about a decade now. Not nearly as bad as it used to be. The area I work in hasn't changed very much since the 80s, so it hasn't gotten better like MH.

Mott Haven hasn't changed much north of The Deegan either (which is the majority of it).
