How many people are actually using the Waterfront line these days? I think it's awesome that it's up and running on a daily basis, but when I was in Cleveland for 3 weeks over the holidays, seemed like 95-100% of passengers got out at Tower City.

Clearly not as many in years past. But it will change for the better as the flats' development progresses. It's great that the infrastructure already exists.

Side note: A colleague was in town for business recently -- his first time here in 5 years. He said it was the first time he has visited and gone carless. He stayed at the Aloft, took the waterfront line to Tower City and the BRT to UC. He couldn't say enough positive things about the city's progress. He also said that the Global Center for Health Innovations will be a game changer in the evolution of how the industry interacts. He was very impressed with it. This is a 30 year vet of the healthcare industry.

Lots of bike lanes coming to Cleveland. 118 miles by 2017 would only really probably put Cleveland into the "Average" category, but it's a start.

Seeing that the Metroparks currently has 100+ miles of paved trails and all of their roads are cycling-friendly, I would consider the area to be well above average already. If you are only considering the city proper, you also have to remember that 118 miles is a bit more substantial when you consider that Cleveland proper is generally 1/3 the size (in land area) of other comparable cities.

For me, I consider bike lanes that help me get places to be more important, so I guess I'm thinking more in the city. But for comparisson's sake, Boston (48 sq miles of land) has 120 miles right now.

To be fair, I find biking in Cleveland much easier and less stressful and less dangerous than in Boston, even without lanes.

I'm telling you Jackson's administration is all about getting things done. Total culture change from what Cleveland was like for the 30 years before he took office.
