Does anyone know what county Cape Carteret is part of? I wanted to read the statistics about that area on the city data database, but it is not even on the list. Therefore, I'm guessing it's part of something bigger.
Also, how does Cape Carteret compare to Wilmington? In the aspect of, the people, raising a family, getting a job there, the crime rate, and the public school system? I am an elementary school teacher and my hubby is thinking of being a radiation technician or a high school PE teacher.

Cape Carteret is tiny compared to Wilmington. Cape Carteret's population is around 1,400. Carteret County has about 66,000 year round residents and many more in the summer.
This link will take you the City-data information about Cape Carteret.
There is very little crime, it is a small town in area that is very beautiful.
It is a great place to raise a family. The local high school, Croatan, has won an award as one of the best schools in the country from US News & World Report for the last two years. Carteret Schools rank very well within NC.
Cape Carteret is in the western end of Carteret County. It's adjacent to Bogue Auxullary Landing Field and very close to the White Oak River (County line) and Bogue Inlet.
There's approx. 1500 people in Cape C. Wilmington on the other hand has a population of 100,000 and is home to UNC-W, one of our state ports and the hub for NC Films.
Thank you dsobotta and Bill! That is really great to hear that is has such a great public school system. I'll keep my eyes open for jobs though. WOW that is a huge difference in population. I will have to visit them both and see which I would prefer. Thanks guys
