Hi,

I am a 20 something gal about to graduate from a top southern law school and I looking around where to settle. Can anyone name some good dog friendly apts.? Good large churches? Wouldn't mind getting a Marine since I am single which would be icing on the cake. Tell me about Jacksonville - this is assuming I can find a job in town.

There's not much to say about jacksonville except it has a lot of marines and a lot of businesses that cater to the 18-24 Demo. Meaning a lot of dept stores, restaurants, and more than their fair share of auto dealers, strip clubs and bars. Theirs no beach, b/c the Marine Corps owns the beach. You do have access to the ocean in the neighboring towns of Sneads Ferry and Emerald Isle. That said, I'm sure there will be plenty of Marines that will escort to Onslow beach aboard the installation, though.

Hey Annie when you get a job look me up. Well let me qualify that...if you are under 130lbs and have all your teeth. You know...a free ride is nice...but even I have standards.

Thanks for the offer. I don't give free rides...well maybe for a superhot marine I might.

Default Consider Wilmington, Charleston or Savannah

As a law school grad you could do a heck of a lot better than Jacksonville. The single, childless professional woman is a non-existent demographic here. There are plenty of "mommy and me" social groups and limited over 50 groups, but not much for those of us under 50 without babies.

I've been here about ten months. When friends ask me what it's like, I say that Jacksonville is a city of about 80,000 people that boasts all of the amenities of a town less than half that size.

There are two Wal-Marts here. And lots of all you can eat buffets. If that's not your cup of tea, plan on driving 60 miles to Wilmington to shop or eat out.

Best of luck to you.

Why J-actionville. There are lots of better places to live than there.

I was under the impression Jville would be a nice coastal NC town (too much Dawson's Creek back in the day?) with tons of single men? Now I am learning you may not even get on the beach and most of the single guys are 18-20 year marines.

Hi Annie126. I am David Sobutta...some call me big butta but if the shoe fits. I figure you have a big butta as well otherwise why would you be advertising on the board. I can be your sugar daddy. I actually weigh about as much as three marines...so if you want to have a ton of fun send me a private message.

I wouldn't even consider Jacksonville a coastal town. A lot of the coastal towns are turning into retiree's landing spots. Like apirlrain said, try Wilmington.
