Hi,
I have looked all over various website's but the only information I can find on Daniel's Park is that they have a bison herd and great mountain views. Can anyone please tell me what else you can do in the park? Can you hike and mountain bike there? Is there a trail system? Thanks for the info.

You CAN do those things, but it is not set up for that. Views, bison and picnics are about it. A few trails have evolved, but last time I was there they were not maintained by anybody. The nearby housing developments would like there to be more, but the area is owned by the city of Denver, and they have a large number for park sites outside of the city and don't spend much on them. They mostly maintain parks within Denver itself and leave the others as open space.

HRCA Backcountry Wilderness Area (broken link)

The Latest HRCA Trail Information
Updated: 04/02/07

SPRING IS HERE…
All of the HRCA trails are now open. Spring time in Colorado is unpredictable to say the least. A snow storm or two is still possible, along with heavy rain showers. Part of our management plan is to close the trails during these wet and/or muddy conditions to help prevent damage to the surrounding vegetation and the trails. When a trail closure occurs, we will closely monitor the trails and open them as soon as the trails dry out.
To get up to the minute information on trail closures, call the HRCA Trail Hotline at 303-471-8873. The message is updated anytime there is a change in the status of the trails.
Update on the Douglas County Trail
Douglas County Parks and Trails is currently constructing another section of their East-West Regional Trail. This section will run from Coyote Ridge Park in Castle Pines, along Monarch Blvd. to Rocky Heights Middle School at the corner of McArthur Ranch Rd. and Monarch Blvd. This trail will be open to the public but the Wildcat Trail System will remain private. The trail is estimated to be completed sometime in June. We will do our best to limit any inconveniences to our trail users during construction.
