There is no way of knowing if your idea of 'Too cold or Too hot' is applicable here. It can and usually is around freezing for extended periods during winter. And hovers around 100 or higher for weeks during summer. Most of CO gets 4 seasons, with the higher elevations getting 3> winter, spring, and fall
. The only area that could be considered with that description is the San Diego area, but even then no further then 10 miles from the coast.
You should visit within the next month for an idea about winter weather.

"Too cold". You ever lived in a cold winter climate? I used to live in SoCal and "cold" was anything below 70.

The only "mild" area of Colorado is the front range. The winters are mild in terms of temperature overall but cold spells occur every few weeks or so with normal snowfall as well. If you're epecting a climate with no unpredictable weather patterns then Colorado is not for you. Summers are nice with temps mostly in the 80s and low 90s and all seasons in Colorado are sunny. I suggest you visit and decide for yourself. If you live in southern CA you could afford anywhere in the front range.

Colorado will be cold to most people from the low desert. Your best bet if you want moderate temps is some of the high desert or prairie areas of Colorado.

I very much agree there's more to Colorado than the front range, I was simply stating the front range has the mildest overall climate. Montrose and Grand Junction get less snow than front range cities, yet they are usually 10 to 20 degrees colder during the day in wintertime. Grand Junction in the summer is usually much hotter than the front range as well. Other than these areas, all other Colorado cities will be very expensive to live in, even for someone from Southern CA. I'm not counting the Eastern Plains because most people don't consider Limon, Sterling, Wray etc. to be the "Real Colorado" although once again the climate in the eastern plains is less mild than the front range. The eastern plains are a little warmer in the wintertime than the front range, yet all other aspects of the climate are more extreme, (Thunderstorms, tornados, big changes in weather).
I agree Montrose and Glenwood Springs are much better than Denver, and Sterling is not so bad either.
