Default Furr's Cafetaria

I was watching a food show about popular cafetaria chains that no longer exist, and it reminded me of the Furr's Cafetaria still in operation on the west side of Colorado Springs when I moved here. I know there were more scattered around Colorado, though not sure how many or where they were.

How many of you remember and/or frequented a Furr's? I enjoyed getting to pick and choose from all their offerings, some better than others, but overall pretty decent food. The price was certainly right for my budget in those days.

I remember two Furr's in Northern Colorado. One was in Fort Collins around Horsetooth and College, and there was one in Greeley at 11th Ave and US-34 next to King Soopers.

I remember Furr's and I loved it as a kid - my eyes were always bigger than my stomach.

Yeah, I had that problem too. I remember liking some of their fish dishes. And loved the dessert selection. I just did a quick search and found a YouTube video about Furr's. In the comment section someone mentioned how awesome the baked cod was - that's probably the fish dish I enjoyed. Found some menus from the 1940s, too.

Did you ever eat at one of them?

I ate at the one in Fort Collins one time. It was my freshman or sophomore year at CSU - probably 1992 or 1993. I remember the crowd skewing fairly old.

Ha ... if you were in college. 30-year olds probably looked old to you. The one I went to in the Springs was usually a mix of ages and lots of families.
