I don't know about the front range but the western slope mountains are cashing in on snow. Powderhorn is where most western slope people go to for skiing, well a lot of them anyway. They got over 2 feet of snow this week and they have a 63 inch base. Wolf Creek near Pagosa Springs is up to 95 inch base, they got 3 feet, and a couple more days to before this system clears out. In the GJ area anywhere from 1 to 2 inches, I live a ways from Fruita and we got 3 inches, melted pretty quickly too.

Snow headed to the northwest corner of the state tonight and the next couple days. It looks to affect Craig, Steamboat Springs, and Walden in a lesser way but up to a foot of snow is forecast in the high country, according to both KKCO in Grand Junction and Fox31 in Denver.

A sizable system is going to roll through all of Western Colorado tomorrow and this one just might be the storm of the season. The high country looks to get anywhere from 10 to 20 inches of snow. What is concerning is winds that might go up to 60 m.p.h. There is still avalanche problems in parts of central Colorado.

Thank you! I'll update the snowpack readings later in the week. Arizona needs the runoff later in the Spring. Snow Baby Snow!

Well this prediction turned out to be an average storm. 10 inches at Aspen, 4 inches at Crested Butte, 7 inches at Wolf Creek, the rest was a spotty 2-3 inches around the state. Oh well. The problem was the wind and it howled at my house, big high wind problems on I-70 in Georgetown--and a good portion of that storm sailed down to the southeast and an ungodly grass fire is still out of control northeast of Amarillo. The truckers heeded the warning as the Fruita Truck Stop on I-70 and Exit 19 was packed with semis for a time. A warmup is coming tomorrow, Fruita's low was 18 at my house.

As I write this the Sierras are being pounded by the Mother of All Winter Storms. Up to ten FEET of snow are expected as some elevations in the Sierras this weekend. Wind gusts over 100 MPH have been reported at some locations and 190 MPH at a mountaintop in California. Snow is falling in the Sierras at a rate of 4-6 inches per hours, or one inch every 10-15 minutes. So much snow that some ski resorts are CLOSED due to high winds and whiteout conditions. I expect avalanches. A funnel cloud was seen in California. Over 2-feet of snow so far in South Lake Tahoe, and a lot more to come.

And it's headed to Colorado.
