I am relocating from NYC. I am 40 yo professional moving with my boyfriend. We are looking for an area that is in the foot hills but has paved roads and where the houses are not too close together. I will be commuting to Denver and am hoping the drive is no more than 40 minutes. We are looking in Golden, Evergreen, Genessee, and Coal Canyon. Any comments, ideas??!!! Help will be appreciated. We are into mountain biking and working out.

The biggest city in the US to Genesee?? A night and day difference. 40 minutes on a good day. An hour in traffic.

Did you know that Evergreen has surpassed 150 inches of snow this year?

thanks for the info. I have lived in Boston, Florida and Vermont....so I have gotten used to all sorts of weather. I actually like snow! I guess it helps to have an SUV.

Genesee is nice, just under 30min easy to down town Denver, but it has very few amenities. Evergreen has all the amenities but the commute to down town Denver is longer, 30-60 min. depending where in Evergreen you live. We have gotten a ton of snow this year but Evergreen has great snow plowing. The county plows almost every single road in Evergreen, inlcuding residential. They start very early in the morning so when you go to work the roads are all ready plowed. I have not had any problems driving this year.

If Evergreen is too far, look into Golden.

Okay, now go to the main state forum for Colorado, select Search this Forum tool, insert keyword like Evergreen and let it bring back all posts on this town that are here...some quite old. These posts are informative and can pre-empt many questions about the area, getting you up to speed quickly. If you have a question about info in an old thread, ask your question in the OLD thread, as this brings the old thread back to the top of the stack in the forum.... no harm keeping old threads going if they have good info. This limits redundancy in threads/posts, concentrates knowledge, and increases usefullness.
