This is basically true. Before we went with a vendor based EHR, we programmed our own - DOS based EHR via Clipper programming. So, we used the DOS Shell for quite a bit of our records, reports, etc... likewise, we also have an inventory of computers waiting to go into service when we hire new providers - computers that we got from donations from a local college that rotates their systems out every four years. These systems all have Windows XP on them. Likewise, we have offline data storage for everybody's document folders. This system works pretty good for us.
