OK. What is the name of content blocker? Is it free?

Windows Defender has essentially caught up with the 3rd party antivirus, especially the free ones.

review

The technology for antivirus software is fairly old and established. It's mostly a matter of getting the most current virus definitions.

My Windows Defender will not update anymore.
Could it be because I am still using Windows 7?

Likely. Microsoft have deliberately dropped support for Windows 7, while also withholding its source code to exclude other entities from extending support.

The most common one is uBlock Origin, among others. It is gratis free and should be available as an extension within the major browsers.

For example, if one blocks everything like I say, pages will be very clean and distraction free for reading. But sometimes the way a site is formatted may be difficult to use without something like style sheets being enabled.

Here is beautyfashionnews.com with only images and HTML.

Clean and readable, but maybe you prefer some basic theming to clean things up a bit. You can enable just style sheets (CSS) while still denying all of the other unwanted things that the site tries to load.

Reload the page and beautyfasionnews now looks beautiful and fashionable all without running javascript and 3rd party resources which seek to do things with your device that you might find objectionable.

I have Windows 7 x64 and Microsoft Security Essentials. It continues to update. In fact, I just updated it today.

Yes.

MSE will work on 7, Defender will not.

Yes, both can be used at once with no issues. Malwarebytes looks for slightly different malware, compared to straight up viruses.
