Is Windows 10 Defender OK for an average user, please? I do not use any exotic searches, etc.
I used Avast Free software, but their Customer Service is miserable.

My son never used anything else, even in his years of graphic designer/web developer times. Just stay away from junk sites.

Yes, it works fine. That's the only one I use at present, along with free Malwarebytes.

Not really. My neighbor was paying annually for some 3rd party anti-virus program. Windows Defender was just fine for her and most people, who don't go to risky sites or download questionable software frequently.

Just a waste of money to pay for 3rd party anti-virus software.

Agree. My job was paying over $1,000 a year for AVG Business. Had a few virus incidents. Switched to Defender 4 years ago and haven't had one single issue.

Install a content blocker on your browser. Block anything that isn't html or images. Block anything that isn't first party domain. You have just reduced 95% of your web attack surface.
