Agreed this is big news for New Haven, an extended runway and the new terminal plan. Greater New Haven can now have a modern terminal (albeit small) which will be eco-friendly, have better passenger flow, and have much more space than the current cramped terminals. There will be more parking, and a more direct route to I-95 that does not pass through as many residential streets. While only an increase to 6 or 8 gates that is a big change from the current 3 gates; and that is the most we can get from the location. It will be built on stilts, is supposed to be environmentally constructed, built with private dollars, and all within airport property. I could see Delta or United start routes to Atlanta and Chicago once the new terminal is built.

A round up of area projects:

https://www.nhregister.com/news/arti...rc=nhrhpdesecp

Not fully comprehensive and also does not mention Milford, which has the downtown metro apartment building and parking garage project, the apartments by old Kmart, new Genesis dealer, new housing on Wheelers Farm, and a new wedding venue in Walnut Beach under way.

It looks like the massive Winchester Green is moving forward. The developers of the $90 million project have announced that they secured their financing and will begin construction in the new year.

The project includes 283 units, of which 57 will be affordable, and 12,800 square feet of retail space. Winchester Green is the latest phase of Science Park, the massive and highly successful redevelopment of the old Winchester Arms complex. Great news.

There’s a massive amount of development in that general area, up to Dixwell area. It has been known as the most dangerous area of the city but seems to be rapidly changing.

Kind of off topic, but with all the new housing projects, plus the 3 biotech office buildings under construction, it means more passengers for Tweed’s new terminal and a New Haven population soon approaching 145,000.

New Haven as well Stamford could tie or overtake Bridgeport population within 3 years from now they getting really close. Bridgeport shouldn’t even consider largest city anymore Stamford and New Haven right on their tail.
