.28" for Groton all Snow. 2-4"

Would start Friday evening after 7pm. (6hr precip is for previous hours of time frame shown)
Are we talking about THIS Friday (as in a sudden change from the forecast) or NEXT Friday (i.e. 1/25)?

Its gotta be next Friday. I just looked at the weather channel app on my phone and said there's a 0% chance of precipitation for tomorrow (for Trumbull at least).

Nope... tomorrow. LOL. Gotta love this winter and the short range changes. Wow. Its a Norlun trough type setup. Those can produce some good snows and the hills of CT enteract with it. Jan. 5, 2011 we had one. (It wont be like that)

Here's the latest Euro snow total. UKMET, JMA, and EURO agree. Have to see if other models agree and just watch the current radar and map. Storm still over georgia right now.

yeah, Im at the point where I dont even know what day. LOL!! I think models are just good for big storms from 2 weeks out.

I havent read NWS discussions yet but I personally dont feel like we'll see anything..

It would be quick for after midnight tonight and be over by Friday lunch. Not a big travel disruption at all.

I see Cambium, this is the "southern storm" tonight (i.e. THIS Friday morning). Well, I think NWS is picking up on it as they now say 30% chance of "some kind of sticking snow" in NYC tonight and 20% for FFC and all of coastal CT (except 30% in New London County).

I noticed the precip on the radar is a lot closer to here sooner than I thought but all that precip immediately to our south is rain at the moment. I thought something might be up driving home from Stamford about an hour ago when I saw how dark it looked to the south.....

Still, if this maps says anything, a big "nothing"

Rain being reported around D.C area. Snow in Central VA now. It hasnt exited the coast yet. Still over South Carolina. If it exits from North Carolina/VA northward we're getting some snow.

But this is just one of those watch and see events.

Default Concerning trends need to be addressed for tonight

http://www.nynjpaweather.com/2013/01/17/concerning-trends-need-to-be-addressed-for-tonight/

There are times when you look at a forecast and start to get concerned. These are one of those times.

Let me first state this forecast is filled to the brim with volatility. So much so that even the National Weather Service to wary of developments right now. Are snowfall too low or too high? Are current observations a trend or just an aberration?

Above is the water vapor satellite image with the strong Sub Tropical Disturbance charging to the east towards the Mid Atlantic coast. First off the bat I’m sure you notice the intense lifting developing over much of the Mid Atlantic from southern New York down to North Carolina. This lifting is expanding in size and intensity. Further, and more interesting is that the upper level disturbance over the Tennessee River Valley has taken a slightly more negative orientation. The shift isn’t extreme, but it enough to force moisture up to New York City in the form of virga as seen in this radar image.

Why is this observation important? Well this tells me the moisture transport has shifted further north than any model had suggested aside from the 12Z ECMWF that is the snowiest of all the models.
