Mentioned the 2 families earlier.....Fred was the face and pretty much ran everything.
Peter has not been in the best health for a long time.
Family really doesn't want to be involved day to day on either side.

The good news is they have multi generational wealth and are fine regardless what they do.
That said while they take their time thinking what's best for them the company has been a sinking ship effecting a great many others.

The good news is, despite the horrible last 12 months there for staff, no matter what, we had a nice long run with their hq here.

Worst still, I must admit seeing the 1st "submarine shop" as my aunt lived nearby. Hate to admit I was old enough for that.

It is long past the time when generation 1 of ownership matters. One being dead, one being elderly.

Yeah, you don't relocate for Subway. Maybe Schick Edgewell.
Subway's best days are behind it, but it still has a place in the market. Great to see front office corp remain in the US.

On the bright side for those relocating, Jet Blue is adding a Bradley to Miami route.

Subway has indicated many will not be offered a shot to transfer, btw. I realize they do not pay well, but some of the jobs they have are high skilled, do pay well, and do not have equal opportunities nearby in the industry. We only have 1 restaurant hq in the region.

State legislators are examining the proposed sale of the Hartford Courant’s parent company, Tribune Publishing, to Alden Capital. Because the Hartford Courant has a state business charter from 1887 that was last revised in 1951 and the publication dates back to 1764, there’s precedent that the state could act to prevent Alden from not acting in the public’s best interest. An unusual bill is being considered to give the state say in the publication’s corporate and financial structure thus preventing Alden from adding debt or wringing money from the newspaper. Interesting idea. Hopefully that can save it. Jay

Short of a non venture capitalist seeing the paper as economically viable, the Courant's fate is sealed.

With the rest of the Ct newspaper association against this government coup, it will not succeed. Nor should it.

I hate Alden capital and almost all vc or pe are wrecking havoc nationally, but the way to avoid this is to stay financially viable, and overall, journalism (print) has failed at that task.

Once these concepts get big these are going to destroy the restaurant field. I know at some burger places in cali they already fired cooks because they have burger flipping machines. I guess its good if you choose to go to school to be able to work on these types of things.

I suspect, based on that, Alden will get their prey.
