WTNH
A $5 meal with current tax is about $5.30. 6.99% will only increase it by a couple cents. Throw in 7.99% and its still no more than a 15cent difference. If you are buying something a couple thousands of dollars you will not see much a difference even with 7.99%

It's an economic dead end. Ultimately the point is that it's not a solution to any problem, it's short term fix (and not even good at that) and does nothing to prevent the same exact problem from happening again next year. The year after that. The year after that. So what next?

Revenue sources are finite, right? At some point, you can never go higher than 100%, and so this "strategy" is fundamentally flawed, academically and in reality.

Not without deporting 500,000 to 1 million poor people with little education and no 21st century job skills.

Don't want to sound like a jerk here.

So with welfare. Average income for a single parent and 2 kids is roughly $75,000 in the State.

State should pay the difference to those living below that. With that said the max amount can give out is 50%
With that said they actually already give out 50%. On average a mother makes non taxable welfare of $38K. With all that said State should only give max 50% for 1 year. Than 2 year's 40%. Than 30% 2 year's. Than 20% 2 year's. 10% 2 year's. 5% 1 year. Max of 10 year's receiving State benefits. Incentive to eor k because you could make $35K a year from work and receive $35K in benefits for the year.

Also Medicaid should be changed to adjustable insurance. Where income and welfare are factored into your monthly payments. In addition to, household size and income is factored in as well.

With disability that is a whole other animal. Clean up fraud in disability. No cap on income made outside of disability. Special insurance that is guaranteed while on disability covers 90 to 95% cost of health related services at non-profit or State facilities.

Also child care vouchers at State approved sites. So say you make $30K and day care is $10K that's 33% of your pay check. You'll receive 33% of the $10K back $3,300. CT residebts making under $100K are eligible for this.

Jeez...so glad I don't live in CT anymore. The COL can't really be justified anymore. It's just an overtaxed/overpriced state at this point.

Hopefully the practical Democrats grow a pair and come out against this, and it doesn't become law.
