The final numbers are in for the fiscal year that ended on June 30th and the budget surplus was up from earlier estimates to $4.3 billion. That means a whopping $4.1 billion will be directed into prepayments of the state’s pension fund and the state’s Rainy Day Fund will increase to $3.3 billion. The advanced pension payments could save us as much as $440 million a year in the future. Great news. Jay

Sales tax on inflated goods is helping as well.
Retail sales are up slightly, however amount of goods bought is down. It's just the prices have increased so much to make the bellwether statistic somewhat meaningless....

Connecticut’s economy has added another 1,700 jobs bringing our unemployment rate down to 4%. That is considered full employment. In addition, the numbers for May were modified to add another 800 jobs bringing the May number to a whopping 2,400 jobs. 4% is however higher than the national average of 3.6%. Still very good though. Jay

Wallethub releases "Best States to Live 2022". MA, NJ and NY are the top three. CT is...25th. And ranked 46th in economy. Yikes!

Yikes is right. Especially when the other two states in the tri state area are top 3, and our neighbors to the north are #1. Makes us an anomaly for the region.

NY and NJ residents have been flocking to CT the past couple years in record numbers. Maybe this ranking will finally once and for all deter that from happening going foward. Let's hope for the best

It doesn’t surprise me, CT has been doing everything wrong for a long time even while our neighbors modernize and grow their economies. We are basically a Rust Belt state now outside of FFC and pockets of Litchfield County.

CT is modernizing and growing economies in FFC and NH County. Hundred percent no question there isn't anything anyone can do about it. It cannot be denied.
NY and MA are rust belts away from Infallible Boston, NYC, and Westchester/LI. NJ is a mess, everyone's born to run - away. Higher taxes than CT, thank God it has the shore and great beaches.
