Waterbury is going to need to amp up on foot patrols. Outside of violent crime noticed an upswing also in just crime in general. It's sad.

They've always been a lot of drug activity going on. The scary part is now the violence and crime that was mostly self contained is spreading across the City.

Probably waiting for the right time and has to worry about perceptions of interference. I hope that's why we haven't heard from him at least. He's a former city police chief and the WPD worked quickly through the night and had these kids rounded up before the rest of us knew there was a crime. That quickness is very reassuring in a place not known for sharp response times and it suggests sheer determination on the cops' part. I'd like to think the nature of this crime drove them harder than they normally work.

While the homicides in Waterbury have risen this year, this one hurts more because it was a totally innocent woman just doing a job. Not that it's good when anyone is killed, but most of the shootings in the city have been drug dealers gunning down other drug dealers or domestic incidents.

Sad all around, prayers to the victims family & friends.

Bit concern with them saying thesee individuals commuting the crime were connected to a crime. Worried about the color of my shirts, mainly blue, when I run. Also question my safety when I run at 4 in the morning in Waterbury.

The story in my previous post is taking a weird turn.

Apparently, he was one of the students that had a drug infused sexual relationship with a teacher at Stamford High School. He and his family accepted $100,000 settlement after suing the City of Stamford for damages due to that drug and sex scandal. Sad story.

Danielle Watkins. Following an emotional plea for leniency from family, former Stamford High School English teacher Danielle Watkins was sentenced to five years in jail by a Stamford judge Wednesday, March 11, 2015.

Antonio, I have to correct you here. Shane Slinsky was a friend of the student having the relationship with the teacher. He would get marijuana from the teacher, but he was not personally involved with her.

Per the Stamford Advocate:

"Slinsky told police that and older friend, who was regularly having sex with Watkins for most of the school year, got marijuana from her when ever he wanted, the arrest warrant affidavit for Watkins states.
“Even if (his older friend) was not in school, he would go to Watkins and ask for weed, rolling papers or cigarettes and she would always give him what he wanted,” the affidavit states. Slinsky also told police that he and his older friend who was having the affair with the teacher would ride around in Watkins’ black Altima and get high."

And that's the sad part--they should all have had their butts put in the slammer, "teachers" and "students".
