This would be huge for the area - I hope it comes to fruition.

This is actually quite exciting and seems to be a bit further along in planning than I first thought this morning. Just came across this from the Houstonic Railroad's website (owner of the tracks). Now I understand why they're now willing to come back to the table for discussions w/ the Danbury and MetroNorth.

"Service might also continue west to Metro North’s Harlem Line Southeast station. When our trains reach Southeast, we have proposed that some trains continue on directly into Grand Central Station under the operational control of Metro North, while others would stop at Southeast and passengers would cross a platform and board Metro North trains."

The page also includes a map of the proposed rail lines which depicts two train stops in Danbury -- one in downtown, and the other along Mill Plain. It would be amazing if this comes to be.

There's really nothing in Danbury you can't get in the gold coast area, except for a big mall (for now).
It takes me 15 minutes to get to Danbury as well as Westport so it’s not a 35 minute drive. Maybe, just maybe if you live in the southern most part of Weston it can take 25 min.

How? You’d have to drive an average of 60+MPH on 7/53 to reach Danbury in 15 min.

It is about 15 miles from Weston to Danbury and about 5 miles to Westport depending where you live in town. That would mean it is about 30 minutes to Danbury and about 10 minutes to Westport without traffic. With traffic add a bit to both trips. To me it seems the minimum time to both would be at least 20 minutes again depending where you live. Jay

Think Danbury needs a beefed up train station. Danbury is one of my favorite Cities in CT outside of Manchester. Be great if can take a train from Danbury to Grand Central. All you need is a Express Bus Service from Waterbury to Danbury.

There are non stop trains from Danbury to GCT now. They are just painfully slow.
