Your incarceration stat is a product of that. Let’s look at the whole picture instead of making comparisons that only tell part of the picture.
Those in our lowest income neighborhoods are choosing a life of crime, and inevitably, they get caught, sentenced now and then for short spans, and go back to crime-their chosen occupation.

Those in the lowest income FL and TN neighborhoods also choose a life of crime. The inner cities and the trailer park meth heads. It's nationwide. If they arrest some and throw away the key, others just come in their place. They just churn them out, like the Rays churn out top prospects. The USA was built on crime and violence, it's in our DNA. No ones been able to figure out how to stop it. Hard or soft. It's all failed and there isn't anything we can do about it. Just vote and fill out an application for a gun permit.

We had spans with far less crime, and far tougher sentencing. More may follow, but if Junior has 3 older criminal brothers in cells 1-2 decades each, that is 3-6 decades less prime age crime spree time.

Bumping this thread to spread awareness.

It's getting bad again folks!!! Greater Hartford and Greater New Haven. I'm hearing about issues in Rocky Hill, Farmington, Plainville, Cromwell, Wallingford, Southington, Bristol etc. Nowadays they're shattering car windows and even removing car doors off entirely.

The CT legislature is in session right now. They don't care about your property. In their eyes, the criminals are the true victims. They're the ones who have been wronged for so long and the quiet suburban CT towns must pay the price.

Juveniles continue to get arrested over and over again only to be released to parents who have zero control over their behavior. They are given promises to appear only to go right back out into the street after they leave the police station. It is not a deterrant.

You are getting no help from your elected leaders on this issue. You're on your own. Keep nothing of value in your car. Not even a few quarters in the cup holder. Don't be a big man and talk about guns and shooting these people because if you ever did, you'll be a thousand times worse off than the people trespassing into your driveway will ever be. The criminal gets a slap, while the victim's voice is silenced.

Another year, another uptick in car thefts in CT. This thread was started in 2018 and after 5 years there has been zero progress on this problem.

You're talking to a wall. They don't care. It's the new normal in ultra proggressive Northeast and West Coast states like CT. Get used to it and live with it. Move on. It's over. There's nothing you or anyone else can do about it.
What are you going to do? Vote them out, yeah good luck with that.

It's sad but you're absolutely right.

I already don’t pay CT taxes (NY employer) and own a second home on the Gulf in FL. Might just move out and they can back fill me with a much lower earner. Doing what I can do!!

NY is the OG of progressiveness and high taxes. Paying CT or NY taxes is like 6 to 1/2 dozen. Move the job and FT residency to FL to get the full benefit.

Have any of you spent time in other states? Because this is not a progressive state/CT issue. I just spent far longer than I would have liked in Arkansas and guess what people there were complaining about? Juvenile car theft/break-ins.
