Pretty sure they won't deny you care though so not sure why that would matter....Both hosptials are fine.

Ok.... so if you lived in Tampa, Florida..... what would be the pros and cons of moving to the Hartford area? Is there anyone who has moved that can share with me what they loved about being in Hartford and what they missed about leaving Tampa????

THANKS!!!

I guess I should add that I have a college freshman, a high school sophomore, and a 4th grader.

They do deny care if it's in conflict with their beliefs.

Perhaps certain procedures, not based soley on religious affiliation. That should be made clear.

I have no idea what you guys are talking about. My mother has worked at St. Francis for 25 years and they are no different than any other hospital. Can you name one example where treatment would be denied for religious reasons?

My mother is not Catholic, by the way, and neither are many of her co-workers. In fact, many of doctors and staff at St. Francis are non-Christian or just plain non-religious.

Lets try and move on from the hospital debate and respond to the OP follow up questions.

Tizz - I know Catholic hospitals won't perform tubal ligation (tubes tied) or vasectomy, I am assuming this is since the church is against birth control. They also won't give the morning after pill to rape victims (or anyone).

On topic, I have never heard a bad word about Hartford Hospital or St. Francis and I have a couple close friends in the medical field that work in Hartford. I would feel comfortable at either.

Commute time to where? Downtown Hartford? I think you had mentioned you wanted to be West of the River. West Hartford would be the shortest commute. Depending on where you live in Avon or Farmington, those would be the next shortest commute. Canton and Simsbury can be a bear, depending on where in town you're located.
