I’m not sure Stewart wants to be Governor though. She just had a child and being Governor would take her away from them. Without her though I don’t see anyone stopping Stefanowski from running again. I just can’t vote for him. I think he’d be horrible for our state. Jay
I think times have changed dramatically in Connecticut since the days of Rell. The state has seemed to embrace the dramatic left wing agenda national Democrats are shoving down peoples throats. That said, many towns (and cities) have since gone Republican and the traditionally Republican lower Fairfield towns have since began voting Republican again. I think this has a lot to do with the dissatisfaction of what’s happening on a national level. We will see what happens.

These are a cross-section of the kinds of towns Connecticut has; urban, suburban, and rural. Republicans also held on to the mayor’s office in Danbury and New Britain, both thought to be very competitive races.

Fairfield, Westport, Greenwich, Wilton, New Canaan, Darien are red towns
Weston, Easton, Trumbull are blue towns

Ansonia, Derby, Shelton, Norwich are red towns

Meriden is split

New Britain is biggest surprise the city is turning around it no longer part of NH, BPORT, HRTD, WTBRY list.

Majority of New Britain council is now republican

They always forget about the Quiet Corner....
Republicans also flipped the town of Brooklyn
They had a clean sweep in Plainfield
They had an all but one BOE member in Killingly
They had an all but two BOE member in Putnam
They flipped the town of Woodstock
They had a clean sweep in Canterbury
They held the towns of Thompson, Sterling, Scotland and Hampton
They held Voluntown, Lisbon and Griswold.
They flipped Bozrah and held Salem.
They flipped Colchester.

The only town in Windham County that remained Blue is the town of Pomfret.

Not sure what this means - didn't Palm Beach County vote Democratic?

Lamont has gotten a lot of stuff done and it's not where near like the "Squad." He's governed quite pragmatically with a laser-focus on the economy and building CT's confidence in itself.

That’s what makes it so difficult for even great Republicans like Stewart to win.
Stewart would not stand a chance, because at this time, Connecticut is a one party state and Stewart does not belong to that party.

By a much less margin than New Haven County. Wealthy suburbs like Boca Raton, with 95k population, voted in favor of Republicans (and continue to do so) helping the state go red to balance large cities like Miami and West Palm Beach. This doesn’t happen in CT, where large impoverished cities like New Haven tilt the state to prevent sparsely populated suburbs from tilting it back.

Lamont has gotten things done like the crime erasure bill, police accountability bill and the suburban zoning bill. That very much falls in line with “the squad” agenda.

It does, and truthfully, had he not done so, the rest of what he has done is fairly moderate and labeling him a moderate Dem without his crime and zoning decisions would be accurate.

IMHO, he jumped the shark first on the crime erasure bill, and the badly named police accountability bill (another soft on crime issue), and once a pol jumps the shark, there is no getting back the damage done.

Agree. Astonishing to me how some here claim him to be a moderate democrat when his track record shows otherwise.

A good moderate like her could win just by increasing turn out of various groups, including Independents.

If she runs on lowering the state income tax by just a few pct points to attract business and residents, then this will be competitive. Just hold the line on social issues.

Doesn't matter, Lamonts pirouetting his way to re-election.
The echoists here are expert spinners. You have a dreidel somewhere, they'll spin it like you wouldn't believe.
"Crime erasure bill". You'd think CT was becoming The Purge 24/7 365. It's actually the Clean slate bill for misdimeanors. Not great but you still get arrested for crimes as far as I know.
The suburban zoning bill helps more rich people move in. I'm surprised these guys here with boats that have engines with a combined 18 spark plugs call that far left.
