Some obvious points from statistics. Fairfield is harder to get into, with a 56% acceptance rate. Sacred Heart has a 66% acceptance rate. Fairfield is run by Jesuits, thus a reputaion for academic rigor.
Sacred Heart has about 75% female undergraduates. Nursing is a popular program. Whether that is a pro or con depends on the student's interest.
I had the impression from my relatives that all of Fairfield is safe.
Fairfield University also has more women than men at 59% women to 41% men. Nursing is also the most popular program, followed by business and finance. The sciences and engineering majors are way at the bottom. Again, does this support the student's interests or not?

My opinion is that both of these schools are way too expensive and the price isn’t merited. If I were spending that much, I’d only do so for a top tier Ivy League school or close to it. They’re both fine schools but they’re in “boring” areas (speaking as a 30 year old- even now I don’t consider either area to be “fun.” But I went to college in an internationally known city so could be biased). I agree that UConn is a much better deal and as someone who works in HR, it’s much better known by future employers as well. Both schools are in safe areas. Bridgeport is dicey but AFAIK Sacred Heart isn’t in a shady area.

Right, even then top tier Ivies are great for two groups of personnel only, the wealthy who can throw money at the application process, and the extremely bright high IQ but low income token picks who would qualify for free tuition. That's it.
If you're extrememly bright high IQ, low income or not, you're going to do well in life financially anyway with or without a Big Ivy degree.
If you're Joe and Jane Schmo you're better off at In-State U. Avoid those overpriced privates. The last thing you want is 6 figure loans with compounding interest.
As far as safety goes, Fairfield is a safe town. All Fairfield areas are, although some more than others. That said Fairfield U is definitely in a safer neighborhood.
Not by as much as you think. I literally work surrounded by Sacred Heart and I'd hardly call it "unsafe" or "ghetto". Yes part of it is technically in Bridgeport but part of it is in Trumbull and Fairfield as well and if you didn't know where you were but knew what Bridgeport "stereotypically" looks like you wouldn't think you were in Bridgeport.
Stamford Uconn is nice but some people simply want the go away college experience and I know many people who did commute to school but had a hard making friends as commuters.
Man, people really hate Bridgeport that much??? I'm perplexed.
Edit: I'm highly aware that people really have a perception... its just not terribly accurate.

Scared Heart is in better area of Bridgeport nice well kept homes but further south it get little dicey.
