Yes, alot of construction going on in Stamford. I do wish they would have more plazas and some green space though. Downtown needs another park/plaza in the downtown area near the Police Station

Unfortunately Stamford is the state's poster child for antiseptic modern development.

They have been creating new parks and green places, but mostly they are in private property often as part of some development, usually private too. One of the more open to the public that have been created in recent times are the new ones in Harbor Point. In fact, there are several that have been created there including a very beautiful seaside boardwalk of sorts and I think the only dog park in the city.

The city isn't creating new parks, but it isn't Stamford hasn't seen new ones. Well, the extension of the Mill River Park which runs along one side Greenwich Avenue I think is being created by the government. The new traffic circle where Greenwich Ave meets Pulaski I think is from private funding, but it will be for the general public.

There are better designs in new construction. See The Audubon or the new Yale campus in NHV.

Yale has been ripping off rich woke people for decades so they have the money to build stuff with real bricks and mortar and carve out dragons.
Regular NHV new builds look typical, come on please.

Gen Re, one of the world’s largest reinsurers, is committing to downtown Stamford by moving its offices to the 400 Atlantic office building. Great news for the city and state.

Does anyone know about the Stamford building height restriction? I see that it was last time increased to 350ft or so with great effort for the Park building . What is the advantage of having this restriction? Isn't it helpful to build taller towers and freeup space for parks , green plazas, biking trails and other community oriented things. Also having this restriction will yield box looking buildings as everyone wants to maximize the space instead of going creative.

One factor is fire department capabilities.

Another big one is parking. Stamford is still car dependent.

The other thing has to do with population density. Stamford did not want to become Manhattan with thousands upon thousands of people living on top of each other and fighting over limited public services and facilities.
