Maybe the Cops had no respect for a lot of these people because they did not deserve respect and they knew what kind of people they where dealing with. If you watched the whole thing on TV all I saw out of these "good" people was, lying, violence, confrontation, looting, and burning. These good people looted and stole from their own neighbors. They don't deserve to be treated with respect.
If you actually read the Justice Dept. report -- or any of the dozens of news summaries about it -- you'd be hoping the police were shot and not the looters. Try it. Actually read something about Ferguson so you can no longer remain willfully ignorant. Or is reading 105 pages too much for you?

It is typical in America to kill the messenger when evidence is presented that is incompatible with our Christian values, the constitution and our sense of fairness. I am reminded how Senator Charles Sumner was nearly beaten to death by Representative Preston Brooks, a pro-slavery advocate after an anti slavery speech. Conservatives need to stop defending cut and dried cases of racism no matter how much they hate the bearer of bad news.

B) The Ferguson police department is and has been a horribly racist and corrupt institution.

Reading the stuff about the department makes it pretty clear why no one black in Ferguson ever trusted the cops or believed Wilson's story or even (wrongly) lied to convict him. The department's targeting of black citizens for excessive fines to keep the city running, the racist e-mails, the way authorities would make white citizens' parking tickets 'disappear', the FACT that black drivers were more likely to be stopped but less likely to have any contraband found, and on and on...

Endless snide remarks and racist jokes won't change those FACTS. Ferguson Mo.'s police needs to be disbanded, buried in the ground, and covered with salt, so nothing can spring forth from its remains. Any decent person -- white, black, or otherwise --would consider that department an absolute disgrace and understand that its long-term treatment of black Ferguson citizens was a prime reason no one believed Wilson was innocent and everyone hated the cops in the demonstrations that followed Brown's death.

If Ferguson's PD comes under federal supervision it won't be a moment too soon. If there was justice for Wilson, let there also be justice for black citizens of Ferguson, 'cause right now there clearly is none.

"I do not favor lowering the standard of justice offered Officer Wilson. I favor raising the standard of justice offered to the rest of us."
The Ferguson Report - The Atlantic
You are absolutely right! The rank racism has been exposed, now let's see what's done about it. The first step should be Jackson's dismissal.

Hey, this is a thread about RACE! Why let facts get in the way of a good story?

It is tiring, isn't it?

Ferguson was a nice little town. Now it's toast.

Looks like little Tommy Jackson is ducking questions on the scathing Federal Report. Coward! This incompetent man should be fired, not be in charge of rooting out the racism.

When a person feels comfortable enough to send racist emails it is an indication that the sender exists in a large network of likeminded people as that one email could be theoretically forwarded to hundreds or thousands of people without fear of reprisal.

I agree, this is pretty typical.

As for The Movement...

I do what I please. What are you Dem or Repub? You want me to start with your party 1st?

You wanna tell me which witness backs up Wilson's account? Do you also need to be refreshed on many of the countless racist and down right sadistic stories coming out of the Ferguson PD? The same one that possibly could be disbanded.

I'll say things were effective.

Things were effective....how? In proving everyone's preconceived notion that blacks can only handle things with violence and destruction? Great job shooting themselves in the foot-- they ruin their own neighborhood. What else is new?

What an ignorant statement.

How many riots were there during that time? 2 others I believe??

Thanks for proving the racism still exists in this country. As well as blissful ignorance.

As far as being effective...

There's been laws passed. More laws protecting citizens are on the way. The Ferguson PD could likely be disbanded and is being sued. It was proven that the Ferguson PD was racist and predatory.

Oh. And you have Revolution.

The report is chock full of 'disparate impact' statistics and anecdotes.

For example, concluding that racism is the reason that blacks account for a higher % of vehicle stops than their % of the population is as goofy as concluding racism is why whites or Asians are under-represented in the NBA or sexism is why males are over-represented in the prison population or trash collecting jobs.

Disparate impact does not = racial bias.
