Exactly. And if they are starting their new life in Europe with a crime, it can be hardly expected they will stop from more criminal activities. These people have nothing to lose, they would do anything for a piece of that Western prosperity.

Exactly right.

uhuh. Wonder what you would post if they all landed in your town.

That's the number that you're told to believe.
Probably closer to 50 million.

Heck if just 1 million can make it to North Carolina and 1.5 million to Georgia (here on the east coast) then how does that bode for Southwestern states?

Between the VA and MD suburbs of DC I wouldn't be surprised if there were a ½ million illegals. I'm guessing around 7-8 million in Texas and well over 10 million just in California with another 2+ in Arizona.

You cannot really control illegal immigration unless you can cut off the economic benefits. That means work, access to health care and other benefits, access to accommodation, etc.. It is more complicated in the USA in that children of immigrants born here are automatically US citizens. I think most western European countries have done away with that.
Hiring illegal immigrants is as illegal in Germany as it is in America, but it still happens.

Heck, I'm just glad that the EU (and others) hasn't started blaming the US for the mess.

I didn't realize they were illegal immigrants. When I heard about it on the news, and online, I missed that part. I only heard "migrants", and I don't jump to "they must be illegals". That being said, I still think it is a tragedy, and those people had families that miss them. Some people on this forum totally lack empathy. How do you know if you came form a war torn country that you wouldn't risk your life to migrate?

My forefathers come from two countries that were once war-torn (by the same war in fact). Their respective nations got together and rebuilt both of them.

I REALLY wish those who feel so bad for border jumpers or those that do something like this were forced to take in a family while sheltering/clothing/feeding them etc. You feel so bad for these people? Then surely you won't have a problem giving them free room and board as well as food and everything else they need.
