Here's the twist this time.. At least 2 of the cops were black, homeowner was white.. And.. One of the cops shot one of the other cops. Shot and killed the homeowners' dog as well.

Police: Homeowner shot by police, officer likely shot by other o - FOX Carolina 21

This reads about like a keystone cops routine.

This is what happens when people make vague reports and vague phone calls to the police without providing a lot of information. A house address number would surely have helped, and prevented all this. This is all one big mistake.

And people wonder why the animosity towards police is growing.

Because they make too many mistakes.

That's true. They are supposed to be professional. Think professional, act professional. I just don't know, sure people make mistakes but we hold police to a higher standard. There are so many stories in the news now of police corruption, misdeeds, mistakes etc, it's really sad.

You're right. Chances are what was reported initially to the police was erroneous information, thus the entry into the wrong house.

If the right information was given to the cops, but they entered the wrong home anyway, then the hate cops crowd have new fodder.

How things conspired in the house is anyone's guess now. Could be a total police screw-up, could be a quick overreaction from the homeowner who rightfully was very startled.

Does that justify this???

I wonder how well this would fly if I made the mistake in my line of work and designed a power circuit with a step-up transformer instead of a step-down. You'd have some 100kV running through your house instead of the regular 240V, and likely die as soon as you plugged something into your wall.

Point is, I'm expected to be a professional in my line of work, and am trained to know NOT to make these types of grave errors.
Cops are supposed to be trained to be professional in their line of work, and this is too big of a "mistake" to be forgivable.

The person that called 911, didnt give an address, they just said by a gray house, so when the cops got there, they went to the back of what they thought was the house and the door was open and they went in and the rest, we all know the results now.

I wonder what would have happened if the home owner shot the cops and killed them, thinking it was a burglar or why the cops didnt just tase the dog instead of shoot it.
