Ok, I just edited my list of to-do's when I win the 1.3 billion dollar jackpot.
The very first thing I would do is call all my friends and family/relatives and ask to borrow $200. I desperately need it NOW. I would do this immediately, before the media reports where the winning ticket was sold. This will let me know who my friends really are. When I collect my winnings several weeks later and everyone finds out I'm the winner (and it almost inevitably will come out) I will know who I can give money to, and it will be so much fun to throw it back in the faces of the people who wouldn't lend me a few bucks, and tell them to **** off if they ask for money.
It is a much better attitude than that possessed by those who believe that they are entitled to some portion of the winnings just because they are a friend or a relative.
It's a lousy investment, I don't know I can think of a worse invest except maybe beanie babies.
It's cheap entertainment (assuming you only spent $10 on tickets), a cheap escape to dream what you can do with that kind of money. I spent about $40 on tickets since the powerball jackpot really started getting huge, usually I spend less than $20 on lottery tickets in a typical month.
No one is thinking about it as an investment, really. It's about as much of an investment as a cup of coffee is an investment -- and makes you feel good for about as long. :-) It's entertainment, pure and simple. Buy a dream for a couple of dollars. No one ever believes that they are going to win, even though we imagine what it might be like.
im almost afraid to win the lottery...all the attention, etc...life would not be the same and necessarily for the better....if only i could just win 3 mil...forget the 1bil
That reporter kinda ticked me off. "Not the answer we're looking for"? Well, why not just write him a script so he can give the "right" answer and you can continue to live in your fairy tale whitewashed world?
Im surprised nobody has mentioned if they won you WILL need around the clock bodyguards and security for the first few years
Just the first few years?
