It is possible that someone who got the Zika virus from out of United States travel returned, and was then bitten by a mosquito locally. That mosquito then infecting this person. Our govt needs to get on this quick and hard. I'm sure they would have acted more accordingly if this wasn't an election year.

What did our government do to keep Ziki out of our country until they found a cure? Anything? This is a catastrophic bug. We don't even know what we're dealing with yet.

Here's the thing. This infection results in catastrophic birth defects, but we have politicians who would force a family to go through with that, while denying them healthcare coverage.

Probably did. I believe the number of Zika cases in Florida is over 300. That is probably just the tip of the iceberg. How many people were infected overseas and came back, had no symptoms at all, never were tested, and local mosquitoes then bit them? There is absolutely no way to know this. Test everyone who gets off a plane from these countries? Anyone who was ever around a person (if one can know that) with Zika like the caretaker in Utah?

Officials are now calling for people who live in this area to come in and be tested. Who is that? Over 2 million people in Dade County. Anyone who has ever gotten a mosquito bite in Miami?

The logistics of something like this is staggering.

Default Zika infected mosquitoes may have reached US soil

It was only a matter of time until this happened. My hope is that medical labs are busy developing a vaccine to immunize against it.

I think I'm a conservative person when it comes to matters of fiscal public policy. But when it comes to societal issues, I like to think I am open minded. I am in favor of women's rights when it comes to terminating a pregnancy in early development, and particularly in cases of rape, incest, or imminent health danger to the woman or the baby. this is where I cannot vote a straight ticket in elections. This Zika virus issue is yet another thing we need to consider when it comes to public policy.
