There's no death penalty in Michigan, but there is life in prison.
The 17 year old that dropped the killer rock will get life for sure.
Why do you say so?
As my extensive, 30 seconds of googling, research shows

750.316 First degree murder; penalty; definitions.
Sec. 316.
(1) Except as provided in sections 25 and 25a of chapter IX of the code of criminal procedure, 1927 PA 175, MCL 769.25 and 769.25a, a person who commits any of the following is guilty of first degree murder and shall be punished by imprisonment for life without eligibility for parole:
(a) Murder perpetrated by means of poison, lying in wait, or any other willful, deliberate, and premeditated killing.
This is what happens when you coddle criminal elements.
I guarantee you, if they allowed us to chop off the hand/arm of someone that committed such an act that resulted in a death or serious injury, many of these miscreants would think twice about doing so.
And if it were sentence of death, even more so.
Don't mind these "death penalty doesn't prevent crimes" folk.

So, in your mind the conversation goes something like this?
A: Let's drop rocks on cars
B: Someone could be killed. And we could get in trouble.
A: How much trouble?
B: Not death or dismemberment.
A: Bombs away!

They could make it a Monthly PPV event and pay off the US debt lol
What scum-bags. I hate punks like this - they're in a group together, and think they're invincible. I hope they're all being tried as adults. They should either be put in prison for the rest of their lives without parole, or get the death penalty. If they do get the death penalty, they should have large rocks thrown at them until they're killed - so they can see what it felt like for the guy that died because of them!!!

I'm not a lawyer, but I'd think it'd be difficult to show that this was a "deliberate and premeditated killing"
They are being charged with SECOND degree murder, which still carries a penalty of LIFE in prison, and does NOT have to show "deliberate and premeditated killing" just wanton disregard of life. By the way, in Michigan pretty much "Life means Life". In other words, even IF you get a LIFE sentence "with the possibility of parole" you are very unlikely in that case to ever get parole in Michigan
