Sadly Disney has become something Walt and Roy would be aghast to see. Walt was a visionary, and while he would be pleased that the park, movies, cartoon animation, etc. were still going, it is a far cry from what they would approve of.
The latest example of "Splash Mountain" being changed for PC reasons.
You have no way of knowing what Walt and Roy would feel about the SM changes or what they would approve of. Stop projecting YOUR opinions on them.
California has 772,000 confirmed coronavirus cases and 14,720 deaths. "The state" has every right to recommend that Disneyland stay closed until it's safer to reopen.
But that wasn't what you said. The mayor's asked "how long are you going to keep us closed" to which you responded "As long as Disney deems it unsafe".
Which is incorrect as Disney has been itching to open.
I don't care whether they open or not but put the onus where it belongs. If the government is the decision maker causing* lost wages, unemployment, losses, then say so. Don't make it as if Disney is holding the cities hostage.
*not meant to be a dialogue on whether it's right or wrong to close businesses during COVID. It's to simply say that the state decided to close these businesses for one reason or another and it's causing lost income, unemployment, etc.
There was so much doom and gloom about the opening of Disney parks. It made absolutely no sense. Where is the massive wave of hospitalizations and deaths in Orlando? They opened up in other countries without starting a new wave.
There's a huge difference in infection risk between outdoor and indoor environments. The protocols worked and the doomers were wrong.

The movie "Song of the South" was a very popular movie back in the day. So much so that Disney created a ride themed after it, just as they do with all sorts of popular shows throughout their history.
Ultimately the PC censors want to erase all types of art, literature, sculptures, books, etc., etc., etc. that does not comport with their leftist version of appropriate history.
"PC censors"? You've got to be kidding. No one would be comfortable on a ride like that now.

Riots? Yes. Protests? No.
Outdoor churches have been meeting for months.

Right. Maybe you could run the state better than the governor.
I know someone who got Covid-19 from a trip to Disney land in California right before the first lock-down. Didn't surprise me so many people close together. He did okay took several weeks to recover completely.
That's a "Captain Obvious" statement. Of course it's unusual. Everything about this year is unusual.
The point is that reopening does not solve the problem. Nothing will ever be "usual" again until the pandemic is over. All these re-openings are doing is prolonging the problems. This could have all been over by now, if not for idiotic states like Florida that insisted on reopening before the case counts even went down.

There has been no evidence that reopening the theme parks has had any appreciable impact on COVID numbers.

The measles outbreak at Disneyland in Anaheim in 2014-15 was a public health nightmare. Possibly the scrutiny from that has an effect on Disneyland's opening here.
