If nobody cares, then why did you bother to open your mouth (figuratively)? I wasn't expecting an argument considering how absurd it is, yet here we are...

If you look, they are essentially turning the service roads into extra freeway lanes, where you can go over a bridge to bypass the traffic lighted major intersections. I'd imagine that's going to bump up the speed on the service roads to something approximating freeway speeds and they will mostly be used by people stuck in 635 traffic to jump ahead of the actual highway travel lanes. Extra merging and entering freeways slows traffic down.

They will also be poorly signed & labeled, so people not familiar with the area will be taking them and getting lost creating additional traffic. If you have ever used 75 south access with Galatyn Parkway in Richardson, it's about the same. People drive up the Galatyn ramp thinking its the entry to 75, but it's not.

In short, traffic on 635 going to be the same after this complete, without even talking about squishy concepts like induced demand.

I also would not want to own highway fronted property such as a store or restaurant after this is done. Bumping up travel speeds on access roads drives property values lining those service roads down.
Not even close to the same thing as Galatyn. The way Forest Ln starts out on that end, I imagine this will get that traffic onto the freeway without clogging up the frontage the way it did before on the approaches to Josey.

And I don't think you can ever outrun freeway demand. Even if they made this a 30 lane freeway. Simply too many dynamics that have nothing to do with how many lanes. What they can do they is ease some congestion on both sides, but they can't create better drivers.

So is the Hillcrest exit on 635 gone forever now?

With 100k people moving to DFW every year it is certainly a moving target. We need better public transportation, but I don't really see that happening.

I think, people in Dallas are not interested in public transportation. I watch trains crossing N O'Connor blvd signal in Las Colinas every day. They are always empty.

These are brand new stations at the end of an extended line. Give it some time to fill in. By the time trains make it to close to downtown they are *packed* A-hole to bellybutton.

I just want them to mark the damn lanes while they are working on them. There are a few points now that literally have no lane markings.
