Johnhw2 is right. Vacations (ie tourism) are paid for with disposable income. In a weak economy, there isn't much of that available for most people. Trying to rely on tourism for financial stability is an unwise decision. It's far better to have a strong local economy with good levels of unemployment and a healthy tax base than to pin your hopes on a robust season of tourism to pay the bills.

I don't think we should improve the parks and creeks for tourists to look at, I think we should do it for residents. As a byproduct, if tourists want to come to Plano to see a park, well that's just great.
