We have had this nice babysitter for a few weeks now. Her husband is a truck / 18 wheeler driver. Over the weeks she had mentioned a few times that both of them don’t like the trucking job but were forced by circumstances into that.

The other day, I asked her what those circumstances were and she told me (at least to my ears) an unusual and interesting story!

Apparently he was a mechanic and quite happy being that, as at least he could be home at the end of the workday. They had a relative who approached them with help for purchasing an 18 wheeler - specifically that he be a co-signer on the loan, because of his good credit. Because of insistence from a close, common relative, apparently this couple reluctantly agreed.

Only a few weeks after the truck had been bought and the relative driving it, one day this couple woke on a weekend to find the huge truck parked outside their home- and the relative could not be traced or contacted! Because of the huge loan payments, the husband was now forced into trucking, just so as to make the loan payments. Because of the huge financial stress, they almost lost their home a couple of times, beside all the disruption the unwanted and unexpected trucking job has caused in their life.

After about 8 years, they are close to finishing the truck payments, but he still cannot quit the job as he is not able to sell the truck! Although they have never been in direct contact with this relative, they heard through a common relative that he would only sign on to the sale if he got half the money, which of course they do not want to do, as they have paid that amount almost entirely on their own.

When I heard the story, I was surprised that there was no relatively straightforward way they could establish the sequence of events and be able to sell the truck by themselves. This couple is not that well versed in English, and on the off chance that there is a relatively easy way they can get resolution to their situation, I thought of posting this here for any thoughts or opinions..

Thanks for reading!

Possession being 9/10ths of the law, at least they can capture all the value of the truck until it's run into the ground.

They could lease out the use of the truck (not the truck itself) to someone who *is* interested in being a trucker, but doesn't have the upfront capital to buy a rig.

Just fair warning, people in Texas have fairly strong views on vaccination. It's completely up to you, but it may be a good idea to keep that mum moving into Frisco. You will literally have families not allow their children to be around unvaccinated children.

I'm always curious to hear about why people are against vaccinations for their kids.

The whole anti-vax trend is based on the discredited British study by Andrew Wakefield, which was made popular in the USA by actress Jenny McCarthy, that supposedly linked autism to vaccinations. Google it and you will find a ton of information for both sides.

We would as well. I just wanted to post as nice as possible to inform the poster without trying to show judgement.

*Also, I want to note that Texas school districts have vaccination requirements as well so home schooling may be your only option.

That's 100% correct. Not only what that Wakefield joker discredited he is proved fraud. He issued bogus, "research studies" for many years and unfortunately many remember the studies and seem to forget the fraud part.

We have not vaccinated our daughter of 4 months yet. My wife has a double mutated MTHFR gene that was discovered when we lost our first child. I have never heard of Wakefield nor would we ever believe anything from Jenny M. So, no she is not 100% correct.
