I had TWC in McKinney and it was horrible, very inconsistent and slow.

I have Uverse now and have been happier, but not as happy as when I had FiOs in Philly.

FYI, same advertised speed by FIOS and UVERSE will always have better latency in FIOS compare to UVERSE. Because UVERSE fiberoptic is only upto the main junction box as compare to FIOS is all the way inside your home.

Yea but my ATT Gigabit is fiber to the house and CAT-5 inside. We live in Preston Hollow and had it installed last week.

I opted for the 100 meg. service and I really do I get 105/115MBPS up and download through my Apple Airport Extreme wireless and about the same via ethernet/wired.

I'm not a computer geek but my wife is and she is shocked how many sites seem fast enough to make use of the 100mbps speed. Now gigabit per say - I'd bet we are a while away from being able to use that kind of speed well.

A couple of nights ago I downloaded a DSD 128 music file (128 times sample rate of a music compact disc) in seconds.

Both FiOS and U-Verse (usually, at least) are fiber to the house. There will also be a point of diminishing returns for Internet speed. Gigapower from AT&T will cost around $250 a month just for Internet. You won't really get that much more benefit from it than you will from a 100Mbps connection.

I was told gigabit Gigapower service would be $30 more than the 100mbps I have. I have phone, TV (6 TVs lots of pay channels etc.) and 100mbps internet for less than $250 total.

I totally agree about diminishing returns until all links in the chain are faster and even then I'm not sure why most anyone would need faster than reliable and consistent 100mbps service at home.

Do they add more tuners or are you still stuck at 4 for the whole house? FiOS has 12 for their quantum tv system.

We have had six Uverse tuners for a couple of years, three of the them are wireless, but only four HD services could be running at any one time.
I haven't tried running all six TVs in HD at once since getting Gigapower.

I'll try that later today or tonight.

I agree, this is one of the reasons I just started my home networking project laying out gigabit Ethernet throughout my house. As for the content that would require these speeds - there might be little available today, but I bet there will be a lot more in a few years, given the speed technologies develop these days. So it is better to have your network infrastructure prepared rather than replacing it again in a couple of years. But for now, I wouldn't mind having stable 100/100 Mb channel instead of 10/100 with the floating speed.

AT&T website shows U-Verse Gigapower at $150 a month for TV+Internet. I understand this is a promotional rate, does it go up to $250 after one year contract?

You were told wrong. I've seen the preliminary pricing.

It will go up after the promo rate ends. It may end up being a little cheaper ($200 or $220 a month) but it's going to be expensive.
