Gay friendly Dallas w/an acre or two of land?
Any suggestions on an area within an hour of DFW that is accepting of two guys living together that is not smack in the city. Want an acre or two for dogs.

Well I hate to bring the bad news, but no it isn't possible to find a 100% gay friendly community an hour outside of Dallas.
You can find a place but you will get a lot of heat from people if you are openly gay. There will be people who will accept you, you just have to deal with the people who don't. The only community that comes closest to being the most accepting will be Greenville... I don't know about Terrell which is East but I do know that about Greenville.

Depending on your budget, I would say that Rockwall, Royse City, Parker and Lucas would be a good fit. People are pretty laid back.

Commerce Tx is about an hour east of Dallas and is home to a state university. Housing prices were affordable out there as I remember, and universities tend to breed acceptance of different flavors of people. Lots and lots of land, although I dunno how much is currently for sale.
I figure that'd be a live-and-let-live scenario out there.

Commerce probably would be better due to the university but still,it is a small town and the locals I believe would not be as accepting... JMO no matter where you live, no matter who you are and gay or not, you will run into people who will not like you.. That is just life.

Denton has a gay liberal bohemian scene. I think they have lots of land there too.

I agree with Artsyguy. Denton sounds like a good fit for you. It's a college town and its about a 50 minutes away from Dallas during none rush hour. I honestly think most people in the this area could care less if your gay or not.

Murphy is another option that isn't so far out of Dallas.
There are acre lots, including some new homes in the southern part of town, and behind City Hall along Maxwell Creek.
If you are OK with a half acre, you can find some brand new homes in the Rolling Ridge neighborhood. Both dog and gay friendly neighborhood, as long as you don't mind it being also very family friendly. OK, Rolling Ridge is just friendly.
