Those are some nice camera phone pics! I really like Elk Neck--one of the best parks ever.

We headed south yesterday to Chincoteague, Virginia and spent a few hours at the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge. The temps in the low 50's kept the bugs at bay and it was actually pretty decent hiking weather. We hiked just about all the trails including the one to the lighthouse. Spring was in full bloom down there and we enjoyed seeing everything green and lively . Make sure you check out the new visitor center if you go--it is really nice!!

Mind you I went at the end of the summer last year...

Elk Neck = Arachnophobia

The only downside to that place...

Salisbury Zoo is a nice if looking for a short day trip. I also hihgly recommend Assateague Island on the VA side as well, if I remember correctly the pass you purchased will work there as well (no promises though). Furthere south on 13 there is Kiptopeke State Park, just before the Bay Bridge/Tunnel. Hope this was helpful.

My husband and I went kayaking for the first time at Assateague today. We put out at the beach where they rent the kayaks inside the park. This is a wonderful place to kayak--one of the best we've experienced so far. I saw so many shore birds and couldn't get over all the little "islands" out there. We even saw ponies in the water and paddled closer for a look. It is very shallow at Assateague...I could touch bottom with my paddle at any given time.

Bonus--we were able to watch some of the OC air show while we were out paddling .
