Yes, we do, but you are correct, you can still wear boots and hat and not look horribly out of place.

Although I recall when it was not uncommon at all to see boots and out around town, I have had people admit to me that they rarely ever see it. Guess its all in who you know and what you do.

I was born in DC and raised in suburban Maryland. I have two pairs of cowboy boots, and I love to wear them. Once broken in they are so very comfortable.

They are great to wear to a listing appointment, a night on the town, running errands, really any where you don't have to take off your shoes for. You know like the Doctors office or a set of showings with a buyer.

I also have a cowboy hat, but don't have many good reasons to wear it. I am a residential specialist, not a farm & ranch specialist.

that's about where you and I took different paths, apparently LOL.

I was born in DC, raised in Silver Spring, Maryland, considered by many the most "urban suburb" in the entire country. I never once saw cowboys boots in SS lol

We aren't "from" there either, but since we were into the "Western" scene in So Calif., it didn't take us long to find out about the Stock Show/Rodeo, Elk Rut, Greeley area, RMNP and where to do a 2-step at and on and on. We both grew up around lake boating/fishing and after visiting both Chatfield and Cherry Creek......it was, "buying a bowrider time"!
From what I've read on the Denver forum, none of the people who want to relocate here even care about the above things we love. Boy, we caught some "mighty fine" looking rainbow trout in Chatfield. Even though my right shoulder required surgery after a fall in ice/snow, we loved living on the Eastern Slope and doing the things we did.

Hey man, I'm one of those people that are moving here that don't at all care about the things you mentioned (or even know what half of them are to be honest), but that's awesome that you found all of this stuff that you love! Enjoy it!

Where I worked 1 mile north of Coors Field, on Friday's I could wear jeans instead of office style Docker slacks. I slipped on my Wrangler jeans and Ariat Lace-Up Ropers, don the old Resistol Straw and head to work in our Dodge Ram 1500 that I had a Classic Rope Company rope hanging from in the back window and my PRCA Membership sticker on the front left/lower windshield. Too off the hat once I got to work......didn't want someone to look at me and say "where's the ranch boy?" LOL

Wife and I would don all of our Western apparel and head to Greeley, Castle Rock, the Springs, Pueblo, Cheyenne, Laramie for a rodeo, USTRC Roping event or fair. We were also members of the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame in the Springs and attended events there.

Funny, we've only wore our Resistol hats and Ariat boots three times since being here in Florida. We definitely think there is something wrong with that..........sort of like, we moved to the wrong State/area. LOL

I don't have any interest in the cowboy/country stuff either. If there's anything that makes me feel out of place, it's that.

People can move here for whatever reason they want, as far as I'm concerned.

Man... LoveBoating you are in for a rude awakening when you come back... Hope you're ready for HipsterVille...

(Unfortunately Hipsters(TM) have not yet adopted Cowboy culture as being sarcastic enough for them to all adopt and wear the same exact way to show their individuality so you will not yet see much of that here in Denver proper... I think we are still on fancy mustaches and man-buns)

Like I said, all those places I mentioned in a posting, are still there and running. Believe me, it was "Hipsterville" when we lived there, but we still knew where our Western apparel hung, where the rodeo's were, taking photos of nice big racked Bull Elk, going to Estes Park and where the 2-step music was. Also, we won't be living in "Denver proper".

BTW, we are just getting ready to get into our later 60's.
"Hipsterville"? Heck, we listen to Styx, Boston, Chicago, Heart, Queen as well as Garth Brooks, Mr. Strait, Brooks & Dunn and others. We will even kick up the radio volume to some Motown (wife loves it). We aren't "Hipster", but the only thing we are "old" at is our age number (and some arthritis pain at times).

How about the National Stock Show and Rodeo each January?
For the Elk "rut" in RMNP each fall?
For how downtown Denver is decorated at Christmastime?
The Denver Zoo?
Down in the southern area's of Denver (Parker, Castle Rock) people can wear Wrangler jeans, Roper boots and a Resistol cowboy hat and not be looked at like they are weird looking.

Well, all of the above is the reason we are moving BACK to south of Denver. Lived there for 5 1/2 years. As far as "Old Man Winter" goes, we will both be retired!

So, if not the above things, why are so many people moving to the area?
I bet legalized weed brings alot of new comers to the state. If I was going to move to Colorado, that would be one of the incentives for me to move there.
