How could some people allow themselves to become so disgustingly fat?

Its certainly not something people purposely try to achieve but a sedentary life and a crappy diet will over time conspire to make you obese, loosing the gained weigh is extremely difficult and is a long term effort that takes willpower resolve and dedication something most people dont have so they continue to gain weight by eating too much.

I hate it when people generalize and think they know. Lots of people gain weight for all sorts of reasons. You don't know what their background is, if they have slower metabolisms, or if they are bigger boned.

Food gives people comfort and life, you can't just expect that people will suddenly eat nothing and be thin. It's a lot harder than that.

You realize you're replying to a 2.5 year old thread, right?

Once I did some marketing communications work for a physicians' weight loss clinic. The psychologist involved told me a large percentage of the clients had been abused as children. That was eye-opening. And sad. I guess the extra weight was a cushion to protect from the pain?

I see a lot of "very large" people in Starbucks, they are usually buying huge, milkshake-like drinks.....a couple of those a day and I am getting-around in a fatcart in the not too distant future.
