Thank you!!!! And the part in bold? That cracked me up something fierce! Thanks for the huge giggles.

Odie came in limping one day and yelping as he would put his paw down...I checked it and there was a piece of jagged acorn shell between his toes. I swear, the squirrels set a trap for him. Both Odie and Lanie have been to the vet for leg x-rays at various times, as they have those long, thin legs....and a nervous mom. Ok, healing kisses to Artie's Frito feet!
And more giggling ensued...!

Yes! Acorn shells! I also blamed the squirrels. Artie had that once, too. Scared the, um, acorns out of me for a minute!

Our Rotts do that once in awhile. They play & run hard. Sometimes they'll step on a root that has grown up instead of down.
It bruises their pads. They also lick it. Sometimes they may favor it several days. Then do something goofy to bruise it again & then the healing has to start all over again.
Just keep an eye on it.
They have had their fair share of cutting the pads. I usually put neosporin on it, but I have to wrap it with that stretch gauze to keep them from licking it.
Hope are two boo-boo footed buddies heal well :-)

It's definitely more than a bruise. It's a cut that actually has created a "flap" on the pad. He does seem better today -- much less licking and limping -- so I think we're on the mend. But I'm going to keep BOTH eyes on it. Well, that makes sense -- while I'm smelling his Frito toes, I'll get to look.

Thanks!

I actually call him Mr. Man sometimes! That's hilarious that you said that. Actually, my oldest friend had a schnauzer whose official name was Mr. Man. I call Artie that, unofficially though -- J would not be amused because sometimes I call *him* (J) Mr. Man. Apparently, he doesn't like sharing his pet names with the, um, with the pet.

LOL - I think we all have our little "pet names" for our pups & our DHs. Only occationally do they merge in this house...and its usually when one or the other (or both)is misbehaving!

BAHAHAHAHAHA!!! But when J heard me say "Babycakes" and realized I was talking to Artie, I got in big, BIG trouble.

Truth be told, I have more names for Artie than for Jeremy. Not all of them are ones that Jeremy would appreciate for himself anyway, though, like Monster Mash. He would, however, like to be called Funny Monkey, but Artie's already got that one.

Gator's main nickname is "fuzz face". DH sometimes gets called that on the weekends when he and his razor haven't seen each other for a while.
