Vet wasn't too concerned when I talked to her. We have an appointment in a couple weeks.

LOL, oh man, communication ships passing in the night! Do I dare explain that the vet listened to Deserterer's description of events, and figured that nothing of immediate concern was going on? Ooops, I just did! You guys make reading here fun!

You should therefore take your pet to the vet at the earliest if you suspect that she has a vaginal infection.

VET that Does NOT want to check this out is NOT a Caring VET!

Katie1, it should be obvious, but I guess it is not - the vet isn't seeing symptoms of vaginal infection. Or, if it might be a vaginal infection, it isn't going to cause permanent damage in the week between now and the vet visit.

Think I'll go with my vet's advice. I explained everything to her in great detail. She is extremely caring and has spent many MANY times patiently on the phone with me over 2 decades whenever I have concerns. I trust her completely. I have used other vets that are much cheaper over the years and always go back to this one. She is the best.
